We have the honor to host Petri Räisänen again. Topic of the workshop is ”The magic powers of Ashtanga Yoga”, focusing on the third chapter of the Yoga Sutras, the siddhis/powers you will receive if you have a devoted practice. You will deepen your knowledge and try out some of the techniques wich Patanjali is introducing in this chapter of the Sutras.

13.30-15.30 Workshop:Breathing to the silence” based on Pranayama and mind work

We create the space for the body with the Yoga Asanas. Lengthening, stretching, rotating, twisting, pushing, pulling, balancing. Is that what Sage Patanjai meant with Yoga, or the old sages like Vasistha or Yajnavalkya? The body control, yes, but where the mind dwells in the Yoga practice? Are we able to hear the breathing, sense the energy flow inside the nadis – energy channels? Are we able to sense the holiness, the quiet force of the Universe?

13.00-16.00 Workshop: ”Primary and Intermediate series techniques and adjustments”.
Petri is introducing a safe, gentle and beneficial adjustments for chosen Primary and Intermediate series

Petri wrote two books in collaboration with K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois between 2004 – 2007. He will introduce the Pattabhi Jois’ vinyasas and details from the last years of his life. The technique class follows the books vinyasa method and alignments and will give a good understanding about the changes in the asanas and history of the asana alignments.

13.00-14.30 Workshop: ”Back and hip therapy exercises”
Petri will introduce some healing and injury preventive back and hip exercises which anyone can start to do beside the Ashtanga practice. We are using Ashtanga asanas and special therapy techniques to strengthen and stretch the body.

Petri Räisänen, he is an internationally recognized Ashtanga Yoga teacher. Petri is authorized by both K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois. Petri focuses on integrating healing and therapy with yoga and has a strong intuition. His adjustments are gentle, therapeutic and, according to many – magical. His soft, permissive energy creates an open and energizing atmosphere.

Petri’s variety of body-therapy work

Petri started studying the Finnish Folk-healing tradition called Jäsenkorjaus (Bone-setting), with the Finnish healing masters in 1988. In his 12 years of studies and 10 years of Folk-healing work he learned – besides of variety of Bone-setting adjustments – energy healing and cupping. He also studied Swedish massage, Naturopathy, Natural Cosmetics, Reiki, Reflexology and Hawaiian Shamanism. Petri has 30 years of Ashtanga Yoga-teaching experience and 33 years of personal Yoga practice.
